Week 3: Macro Photographs

Thankfully I did dig out my camera's manual back in week one, so I was able to find Macro mode pretty quickly. I started out trying to get as close to the subjects as I could while still being able to focus, but I found that if I backed up from the subject a little and zoomed in as far as possible, I got better and closer results. I stuck with this method and then started getting my shots. I really didn't have a theme in mind, I just took a few shots inside, then went outside and walked around the yard. Most of my shots came from outside, just insects, nature, and whatever I could get close to. The Picasa collage creator is really neat! I made one traditional collage and then made a grid collage so all the photos could be seen in their entirety.

  1. These collages are both great, but I like the grid arrangement better, personally, because I tend to like things neat and tidy. That said, these shots are amazing. So very impressive. There is something almost...unsettling about the calm color palette and frozen moments here that can give a person chills (in a good way.) The either the picture of the flies on the flowers or the dog's tongue is my favorite, very cool.

  2. Very impressive. Your work is very captivating I like the variety of images that you took. You captured a lot of different textures some of the pictures made you wonder, what is that?..which was great fun! I'm really impressed with your photography and your vision!

  3. I really liked that you also included the grid collage, there were a few pictures in your first collage that I wanted to see in full that are great! I am really impressed with the picture if the dogs tongue! For our last assignment I tried at first to take pictures of my dog but he wouldn't sit still at all. Most if not every photo was blurred. Your picture of the tongue is crisp and shows so much detail! Great job!

  4. What a great variety of shots you took! They are all very clear and crisp. I love the tongue shot! Its super clear and really shows the details of it! I also like how you captured the bee inside the flower. This is not an easy task, I tried and ended up chasing the bee around like a little kid.

  6. Wonderful! This looks like a collection from a dog's life. Great work on these...I really like that you provided more than one example. Going beyond the beginnings is where the learning really begins.

  7. These are great and I love the shots your camera is getting. What do you shoot with? These are just so sweet, I also took a few pics of fry and the slimy crawlies that live out in the forest but mine where barely usable let alone breath taking. Great Job this week
