I certainly spent more time this week trying to familiarize myself with GIMP than I did actually editing my pictures. There is so much that this software can do, exploring it all is quite daunting. With my first picture I played around with coloring, cropping, flipping vertically, and putting extra blur in the background:
With the second picture, I tried to play around more with the layers, which turned out to be more confusing than I imagined they would be. I went for the overlay effect, but I really don't like the obvious lines from where the edges of the pictures are. I spent a while trying to get rid of those lines, but I wasn't able to without losing the effect of the opacity and overlapping.
I love them these are great. The first one came out really good I love the bike. Your second one has the lines which are harsh but the photo looks like a magazine edit and I like it.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with these photos. The blurring of the background makes it look like the bike is moving really fast. This would be a good way to make sure our subject is in focus by having it go slower and add the effect of speed after, good idea
ReplyDeleteI love your work! The first is amazing and the second is very cool as well. I wonder if you have cropped out just the lacrosse player and layer images of him over and over? I spent easily eight hours or more exploring the program's there is so much to learn!
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job on these!
ReplyDeleteWhat matters most is that you posted these. You did the work, and you posted them for everyone to benefit from. Now, if you had not told us what your intentions were, we would not have known that you struggled so much. I think the second photograph looks perfectly fine and intentional. The first photograph, you did an awesome job with and this kind of work is the majority of what gets done with Photoshop. It is very subtle editing to enhance the photograph. Keep up the great work!
